Supervision
Alongside the work I do in counselling, I also offer supervision services for qualified counsellors. And I especially enjoy supporting those setting up in private practice.
I offer to share my experience of setting up two successful practices, first in Edinburgh and now in Exeter, working in person and online.
Counselling Supervision
My counselling training was at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where I qualified in 2008. I’ve been in private counselling practice since then and and providing counselling supervision since 2014.
From my previous professional life as a freelance training consultant, coach and mentor, I hold a Post Grad Diploma in Learning and Development and a Certificate in Stress Management.
My main modality is person-centred but I am experienced at working with and supporting counsellors from other modalities, and I consider myself to be integrative.
Several factors influenced my decision to become a supervisor, including my 20 years experience of mentoring people through career and personal development transitions, and my experience of supervising volunteer employability mentors for a third sector project.
During my counselling training I found the support and insights of my supervisor invaluable; her knowledge, skills, non-judgement, and her ability to provide a safe place for me to make mistakes, learn and grow was an integral part of my journey. My relationship with my supervisor is an intrinsic part of my professional life.
To help you decide if I’m the right supervisor for you I offer a free half an hour meeting, either face to face or by Zoom.
Support and Supervision
I also offer support and supervision for those with roles in other caring scenarios e.g. student advice staff, third sector managers and body work therapists.
Often, I find that those working in caring and support roles aren’t always able to access quality support and supervision, which can have negative effects on their health and wellbeing. If you feel this is the case with you in your work, I can help by offering you effective and confidential support and supervision. Typically lasting an hour, usually on a monthly or six weekly basis.
Supervision offers a safe place to discuss and process work and its emotional challenges, and use the session to reflectively learn and develop. For more information about my supervision services or to make an appointment, get in touch via the Contact Form.
